LawPay Introduces ‘Pro’ Tier to Bridge Features Gap Between Payments and Practice Management

With ABA TECHSHOW beginning Wednesday, you can expect several companies to introduce new products and features this week. First up is the online payments company LawPay, which today is announcing a new product tier, LawPay Pro, that enhances the standard LawPay electronic payments platform with the addition of legal billing features.

The additional features, such as time tracking and invoicing, are designed to bridge the gap between a pure payments platform and a full-featured practice management platform, providing a middle option for attorneys who do not need a full practice management solution, the company said.

It is a development that makes sense for LawPay, given that its parent company, AffiniPay, last year acquired MyCase, one of the leading cloud-based law practice management companies.

“We built this easy-to-use solution for the lawyers who do not yet require a full practice management solution for their law firms, but need to run their businesses like the professionals that they are,” said Arman Samani, chief product and partnerships officer of AffiniPay. “With LawPay Pro, legal professionals can now invoice, track time and receive payments seamlessly, while maintaining compliance with legal regulations.”

I have not seen the new LawPay Pro, which will become available to customers starting in April. According to LawPay, it will include all the features already available in LawPay, plus added components designed to allow firms to manage their billing and time-tracking.

The added features available through LawPay Pro will include:

  • Billing, invoicing and trust reconciliation.
  • Time and expense tracking.
  • Contact management.
  • Accounts receivable dashboard.
  • Text to pay.

These features will build on features already available within the LawPay platform, such as:

  • Scheduled payments.
  • ClientCredit, which allows clients to finance their legal fees.

The cost of LawPay Pro will be $19 per user per month, if paid annually, or $29 per user per month, if paid monthly.

“We’re thrilled to introduce LawPay Pro to the legal market, as it’s an incredible software offering that will better serve legal professionals,” said Dru Armstrong, CEO of AffiniPay. “Our team proactively anticipated technology adoption and worked hard to bring this to life and we are excited to provide further innovation to the legal tech industry.”
